Wayne’s Answers to Your Questions

Question
"What’s your connection to Sarah MacLachlan?" (Jim T. – Cleveland, Ohio)

Wayne’s Answer
Well, first I like her music! Our styles are fairly different, but both of our songwriting is influenced strongly by personal experience. The musical connection is David Sinclair, Sarah’s lead guitarist, performs on my latest CD, "Alive!" He shines particularly on the songs Behind the Counter and Only the Air.

Question
"Are you married?" (Donna J. -- Albany, New York)

Wayne’s Answer
Yes, and very happily! Barb and I tied the knot in August 1998, and we just had our first baby (a boy named Aden) in September 1999. Being a professional musician is a tough gig, and Barb’s incredible support has made it so much easier (and fun) to do. The music wouldn’t be what it is without her.

Question
"Is it true that "Annie" in the song "They Are There, I Am Here" is Ann Landers? Did you ever meet her?" (Tracey S. – Chicago, Illinois)

Wayne’s Answer
Yes it’s true, but no I’ve never met Ann Landers in person.

The story is that I read a letter in Ann Landers a couple of years back (I was single and unattached at the time). A woman wrote in complaining that she couldn’t meet any decent men -- all guys are jerks. As I was very available at the time, I got quite angry (or "pissed off" as the song says) at this letter – not every single guy is a jerk!  Fortunately, "Annie" was on my side and responded that decent guys are out there, you just have to keep your eyes open.

By the way, I think you can download the entire song ("They Are There, I Am Here") in MP3 format from this site.
